Julia Meaney (Researcher and Assistant to Executive Director) completed her 21st week with the team. This week, Julia checked on the “Murphy bed Instructions” PDF and resolved comments where feedback had been integrated. She then continued and completed her review of Chuck’s integration of requested edits on the “Sustainable Roadways, Walkways, and Landscaping” Feedback PDF.

She made fixes on the live webpage to headings, table of contents, spacing, Title texts on links, and other formatting and coding issues as needed. She checked all of the images on the site, making small fixes as needed and assigning larger tasks to Chuck on the source Google Doc and the Feedback PDF. Julia then completed her final review of the “Addressing Non-recyclables” Google Doc.

She checked Mercy’s most recent additions and added her feedback in the comments. Next, Julia went through the “Chickens” Google Doc and checked Chuck’s integration of new content to the “Ethical, Humane, & Conscientious Chicken Stewardship” webpage, crossing off content on the doc that had been correctly integrated.

She made various fixes to ToC’s, images, format, and linked resources as needed and backed up new additional resources to her Dropbox folder. Finally, Julia continued her work on the “Eco-Laundry” task. She added a new “Flexibility Strategy” section to the site, writing a paragraph explaining One Community’s eco-laundry flexibility strategy and updating the table of content with the new subheading. See pictures below.

Yan Xu (Software Development Engineer) completed her 28th week helping with the Highest Good Network software. Yan this week started working on the “create new summary group” function, after clicking this button, it is possible to pop up a page to input the summary group name.

But currently, it is not possible to successfully create a new row in the summary management table, so she still needs to investigate and think about the code for this. Yan will push PR part by part in the next step. As for the pause and resume button, she verified that the front end change will cause the backend change. See pictures below for some of this work.

Alan Lee Sing Chan Yau (Software Engineer) completed his 14th week helping with the Highest Good Network software. This week Alan started off by working on fixing the misspellings of “committed” throughout the frontend and also the backend. He worked on a similar PR before, and this time Alan knew that it was very probable that some things might not work properly after updating the spelling.

The first problem he encountered was that after fixing the misspelling problem, the weeklyCommittedHours value in the summary was blank. Alan understood why this was happening, and this was because every user has this value stored in the database with the wrong spelling “weeklyComittedHours” with one m.

That is why Alan left just one misspelling so we can continue seeing this value. Then Alan worked on his Management Dashboard feature that was needed, by adding a button to the tasks of each team member on the dashboard to mark their task as completed. Alan was able to add this button to each task, but he is still figuring out how to mark it as completed the same way we can do it in the userProfile page.

Johny dos Santos Anastacio (Software Engineer) completed his 9th week helping with the Highest Good Network software. This week Johny worked on the task, “Fix 100 hours total contributed badges bug”.

He’s now working on a way to make user hoursByCategory properties to assign the 100 hours badges, because the only thing the categoryTangibleHrs are being used for is to assign those badges, but Johny is not understanding how this array categoryTangibleHrs is calculated.

Johny also worked on his other task, “change the role from user profile gets saved and updated on profile page but doesn’t reflect on other pages/privileges”, he made some changes that were requested by reviewers, and the PR was merged. Pictures below show some of this work.

Aishwarya Kalkundrikar (Full Stack Software Developer) completed her 7th week helping with the Highest Good Network software. This week Aishwarya thoroughly went through the issue and found out that whenever any task is deleted, its estimated time and logged-in hours are not removed.

This makes the sum or remaining hours be calculated incorrectly. Aishwarya also found out that the remaining hours of the tasks which are present in the ‘all’ section after deletion are also considered in the total sum of remaining hours. She found the solution and is now finding out if there are any corner cases that need to be handled. Pictures below show some of this work.

Filipe Santos de Oliveira (Full Stack Developer)  completed his 2nd week helping with the Highest Good Network software. Filipe finished PR reviews this week for a variety of issues and bugs posted on Github. The issues were 595, 666, 668, 654, 670, 671, and 670. In PR 654 Filipe informed that sometimes the dashboard doesn’t load after he refreshed the page or when he was trying to go back to the previous page.

Also he noticed that clicking a second time on the dot next to the user the leaderboard only shows the user he clicked on previously. As soon as he comes back to the page it shows all users again and after clicking on a second user the leaderboard only shows that user again.

For PR 595 Filipe found many errors: Unable to click on items from the tab tasks, last week, week before the last; Popup bar is not fixed on the top; The floating menu is opening below the time counter window and summary window. He recommended some minor changes to the popup bar that fixes the popup bar space on the left side of the page and puts the popup bar above the number in the red circle of tasks, badges.

Finally for PR 670 Filipe found that in the basic information, the ‘role’ field is overtaking the screen and in the basic information, the ‘Time Zone’ field is overtaking the screen. See below pictures as examples of this work.

Anish Pandita (Software Engineer) also completed his 2nd week helping with the Highest Good Network software. This week Anish completed PR reviews for multiple issues and bugs listed on Github. The issues included #664, #666, #667, #670, #668, #671, #672. Most of the issues were UI changes that needed to be tested to ensure everything is working fine.

He commented all the findings like the bugs found in PR #666 where the deletion of task from still didn’t update the time filling menu, suggested that some optimization might be necessary in the PR #667 for better UX, found that the profile page had still some bugs while testing responsiveness on different screen sizes for PR #670 and formulated the findings for #672 where Anish found some bugs in the create task menu.

Overall it was a fruitful week and he learnt a lot. See pictures below as examples of this work.
