One Community welcomes Calvin Liu to the Software Development Team as our newest Volunteer/ Consultant!
Calvin earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Columbia University and has since gained experience in full stack development and machine learning. He previously worked as a Software Engineer, developing RESTful APIs using Spring Boot/Cloud and MyBatis. He implemented features such as pagination, sorting, and filtering for large-scale datasets and optimized high-concurrency systems using RocketMQ and Redis to ensure performance and reliability during high-traffic events. As a Machine Learning Engineer Intern, Calvin used Scikit-learn and PyTorch to develop models for cryptocurrency trend analysis and forecasting. In a personal project, he co-developed machine learning models to predict in-hospital mortality for heart failure patients, analyzing over 500 ICU cases and 10,000 patient records to help improve patient care. While a member of the One Community Software Development team, Calvin improved system performance by optimizing back-end and front-end functionalities of the Highest Good Network software. He enhanced data management, user authentication, and search capabilities, contributing to the project’s scalability and security.
