One Community membership options include Pioneers and Volunteers/Consultants. Pioneers are the people who will move to the property and build One Community. Volunteers and Consultants are the global team working together to make the upcoming move possible. We are currently accepting applications for both.

WHO WE ARE/WHO WE SEEK

Our team is a group of people interested in making a global difference. We have come together without prior knowing of each other, from diverse backgrounds, and with a shared set of values and a vision to live and create for The Highest Good of All. We are creating One Community as the first of many self-sufficient and self-replicating teacher/demonstration communities, villages, and cities to be built around the world.

One Community membership is for people interested in working on everything we are finishing and evolving in preparation for our move. If you consider yourself an elite individual within your field, we’d love an application from you because you might be a good fit for our team.

We have 40 positions for Pioneers, the team that will be moving onto the property. Consultant/Volunteer options are also available.

ONE COMMUNITY MEMBERSHIP TYPES

We have two distinct One Community membership options: Community Pioneer Members and Volunteers/Consultants. Community Pioneer Members are the core team creating One Community and the group that will move to the property to live full-time and “pioneer” the continued development and sharing of this ultra-green, fulfilled living, and evolution-of-sustainability model. Becoming a Pioneer member does not cost anything but it does require an extensive application process, specific training, and a minimum time commitment to what we are creating.

Volunteers and Consultants are the people working behind the scenes to complete all the open source plans for everything you see on this website.

Future community members will be selected by the Pioneers and will have the option to apply once the Pioneers have built the necessary infrastructure for new One Community membership.

 

BENEFITS OF ONE COMMUNITY MEMBERSHIP AS A PIONEER

The initial creation stages are happening right now, and for those of us with the “Pioneering Spirit”, this stage of creation is exciting, fun, stimulating, and pleasantly challenging to be a part of. There are also some very specific benefits of One Community membership as a Pioneer at this stage of development:

• Pioneers who join us in our current stage, before we have the necessary funding to purchase the property, have seniority for Home Shares.
• Everyone who joins the team is part of the decision making process for every individual that comes after them. The Pioneer Team, however, will be the group that evolves and operates the One Community membership sponsorship process for each member of the second group to join us on the property.
• One Community has first right of refusal to buy Home Shares if someone leaves One Community and decides they want to sell one of the shares for a structure they helped build. Pioneer members will have second right of refusal to buy these Home Shares.
• The initial Pioneer team will also have seniority to upgrade their Home Shares each time a new village is built – making it easier for them to move into one of the residences within the later sustainable village models. This is a very nice ‘perk,’ considering the Pioneers who stay on the property will also be a part of all aspects of the design and implementation leading up to the construction of these later sustainable village models.
• As with all pioneers, we are doing something nobody else has ever done, which is uniquely special. Nowhere in the world is there a community dedicated like we are to building self-sufficient and self-replicating teacher/demonstration hubs communities, villages, and cities celebrating sustainability, fulfilled living, art, music, learning, connection, freedom, and abundance like One Community. It is unique and perfectly timed, and while many communities and community members will follow in the footsteps of our initial team, there will always be only one group of One Community Pioneers.

 

EXPECTATIONS FOR JOINING

There is no financial investment for any aspect of One Community membership, only a time requirement. Look at our updates page and our ongoing progress blog to see everything we are working on and accomplishing right now. These items are necessary for us to receive full-funding and must be completed before we can move to the property. Minimum One Community membership time expectations for a Pioneer at this phase of development are 7-10 hours per week. WHAT ONE COMMUNITY MEMBERSHIP PROVIDES ONCE WE MOVE

One Community membership is designed to provide the following to all Pioneers once we move onto the property:

• Experience, coaching, structure, leadership, and finances to create everything on this site
• Food, power, internet, phone, daily entertainment, on-going education, and all building materials and equipment
• Communal living space until your own home is built – a home you will own through Home Shares
• A model for earning you revenue from your home if you leave (see “Community Sponsored Business”)
• Resource Based Economy that provides vehicles, cellphones, computers, laptops, appliances, etc.

 

NEEDED FOR THE MOVE TO THE PROPERTY

• A “pioneering spirit”
• A desire to contribute now and on the property
• A consciousness focused on The Highest Good of All
• The financial fortitude/freedom to step away from whatever you are doing now

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AFTER JOINING

This section describes what a Pioneer can expect once they are accepted through the One Community membership process.

 

FIRST WEEK IF YOU JOIN ONE COMMUNITY

Once you have completed the One Community membership process and been accepted, it is important to us that that you are able to get up to speed as quickly and smoothly as possible and always know who you should talk to if you have questions, etc. As part of the interview process we will have already explored where you would most like to contribute to the broad diversity of projects One Community is developing. The next step will be working with Jae (our Executive Director) to get you started on those project(s). Jae will set you up with access to our Highest Good Network project tracking software and a collaborative Google Doc explaining everything needed for how to work as a member of our volunteer team and the details relevant to your action item(s).

OVERVIEW OF OUR APPLICATION REVIEW AND INTERVIEW PROCESS

 

FIRST WEEK AS A CORE TEAM MEMBER

After two months demonstrating your effectiveness as a volunteer, you will be ready and invited to join the Core Team. At this point you will be invited to the Weekly Team Calls and connected to both your Welcome Team Facilitator and Project Team Facilitator. These people will help you get to know the rest of the team, answer any additional questions you may have about how the Core Team operates, Weekly Team Member Call details, etc.

TIME REQUIREMENTS UNTIL WE MOVE ONTO THE PROPERTY

The amount of preparation, projects, and bringing together of everything that is necessary for a successful move onto the property with a project like this is immense. For Pioneers we require a minimum of 5 hours of tangible contribution and participation in a weekly team call and a monthly Welcome Team Call. This amounts to a minimum expectation of about 7-10 weekly hours. This will continue until the last couple of months before we move onto the property. At that point, the Pioneer Team will predictably be engaged full-time with the details and the move. Here are the pages most relevant to where we are now in our process:

MOVING ONTO THE PROPERTY (PIONEERS)

Moving onto the property will happen in phases. These phases have already been carefully planned and can be seen in the document below. Phases are detailed for Food, Energy, Housing, Education, Recreation, Self-governance, Entrepreneurship, and all other aspects of One Community. Once on the property we’ll use the consensus process for ongoing development, decision making, and anything not already planned.
