One Community is now seeking additional software developers to join either our Core Team or our Volunteers and Consultants team.
The people who join our team as either volunteers/consultants or members typically fit one or more of the following descriptions:
We would like to have multiple contributors and are open to exploring win-win relationships with people of varying skill levels to help develop our Highest Good Network Application (HGN), described below. The app is built using the MERN Stack and we’re looking for people to help finish Phase I functionality and debugging so we can move on to developing Phase 2.
Highest Good Network and Community Sharing, Collaboration, and Management Software
The software is currently in use, so an experienced person can pretty much jump right into development. You’ll choose from a list of requested functionality and functionality/bug fixes ranging from easy to complex. Work is mostly independent and we use Slack for team help with problem solving.
The Highest Good Network software is built with React.js, Express.js, and MondgoDB. The software is live and we’re debugging it and adding new functionality. Here are the 2 main GitHub repositories and the Work Breakdown Structure:
You are someone who wants to be a part of making a global impact with open source software development. You may be a recent graduate, H4 Visa holder, or freelance developer seeking more experience and/or to build your portfolio. Or you may be someone with many years of experience interested in making a difference by sharing your knowledge and skills through world-changing nonprofit work.
At a minimum, you have 10 hours a week to volunteer and at least 1 year experience with React, basic Javascript, HTML, and CSS. Bonus knowledge would include: Handlebars.js, Backbone.js, Node.js, and MongoDB. You are looking to volunteer for at least the next 2 months, have exceptional attention to detail, a creative mind and passion for coding and problem solving, and excellent communication skills for collaborating in a virtual environment.
