One Community: Saving the earth - reduce, reuse, recycle, One Community Executive Summary

One Community Executive Summary

This is One Community’s Executive Summary for creating open-source blueprints for a sustainable civilization. These plans are designed to demonstrate and inspire, because we believe in the possibility of sustainable world development if enough people want it and are taught how to create it. For that to happen a working model with widespread appeal must be demonstrated. It should be:

  • Affordable
  • Globally accessible
  • Applicable across a diversity of cultures
  • Created so that normal people with average knowledge and little or no experience can replicate it
  • Created to demonstrate a model of living that is compelling enough that people want to replicate it
  • Created with a marketing engine capable of exposing enough people for the model to become self-replicating

A GLOBAL CHALLENGE

The rise of consumerism is having a negative impact on humanity in two distinct ways: First, the drive to attain more monetary wealth and material goods has shown to increase levels of depression and decrease overall life satisfaction. Second, the rate at which we are producing material goods is creating such a strain on the planet’s resources that it is predicted we may no longer be able to sustain life by 2050. Thus, the quality of life for humans is on the decline and our way of life is not sustainable.

OUR COMPANY

One Community Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)3 legal entity based in Southern California and led by Jae Sabol. Members of One Community are 100% volunteers.

The purpose of One Community is to help people create a better world. Our mission is to demonstrate a more sustainable and enriching way of living through an open source sustainable living model and open source everything needed for replication. This will preserve natural resources for future generations and provide all humans with an option for a better quality of life.

This executive summary outlines the core objectives, development model, and resources needed to demonstrate this approach at scale.

OUR OBJECTIVES – EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

  1. Be the leading influencer for creating a comprehensively sustainable civilization. This includes demonstrating practical approaches that address interconnected needs such as housing, food, energy, education, economics, and community development.
  2. Make sustainable and ecological living a mainstream option. By demonstrating practical solutions and sharing the resources needed for replication, One Community aims to make sustainable living more accessible and achievable for people in different environments and cultures.
  3. Become one of the world’s largest providers of open-source multimedia tools, tutorials, and resources for sustainable infrastructure. These resources are intended to help people understand, apply, and replicate sustainable solutions.
  4. Provide a pristine working example of sustainable living to promote proof of concept replicable by others in any environment across the globe.
  5. Evolve sustainable solutions based on the current needs of people and their environment.

Together, these elements provide an executive summary for sustainable development by connecting the organization’s objectives, demonstration model, funding needs, and plans for broader replication.

REVENUE SOURCE

We will create seven different example villages and a sustainable industry example that will provide housing and tourism, recreational experiences, manufactured products, educational products, a school, organic food sales, and retirement living. Total capacity for full-time residents will be 1000 with expected tourist visits at 100,000 a year.

OUR ASK

One Community is seeking between $20 million to $30 million in grants or other non-reimbursable funding. These funds will be used for the purchase of land, startup costs, and the first two phases of the construction project for creating the example villages. We expect to break even as an organization within three years.
